3!> What do you think about the way the media portrays or covers affairs dealing with African Americans?

I think that when it comes to affairs dealing with African Americans the media blows it out of proportion. For example with Michael Vick people were having a fit and it was all over TV whenever you turn it on, but when Ben Roethlisberger is accused of raping a women you don’t hear about it every time you turn on the TV. Now which is worse? Some dogs getting killed, or a woman being raped. I personally care about a human more than an animal.

4!> What steps do minorities need to take to create a better community for our children?

We need to care about our children and their future. It should be more important that they have money in the bank to pay for their college education than shoes on their feet or clothes on their back. We should care about how they are doing in school so they can get into college and have a career they enjoy when they are older.

5!> Are we living the dream that Dr. Martin Luther King spoke of in his "I Have A Dream" speech?

No! We are not. I think that we THINK!! We are equal but we are far from it. We as a people were so concerned with being accepted by the “White Man” that we do not support each other or back one another as a people. If we don’t care about ourselves no one else will. The way that media portrays us is negative and that is not what Dr. King had in mind. We may be able to go to college and work side by side with other races but we are still looked down on and in the eyes of others we are held in a negative regard.

7!> Who in your life has pushed you the hardest concerning your dreams?

My husband has pushed my because he has always supported me so I never want to let him down. He keeps me going. Also my daughter pushes me to want to be the best. I want her to look at her mother and be proud of me and all that I will accomplish in life. I want her to see me as a strong powerful black woman and the number one role model in her life.

10!> What do you think do you think about the divorce rate being at %50 percent and what do you think could change this?

I think the divorce rate is utterly ridiculous. People don’t respect the matrimonial union and look at it as there are no outs. It is final. The best thing I could have done before I got married was go through 6 weeks of marriage counseling. Things were brought up and discussed that we probably wouldn’t have done had someone who has been married for many years. I also think it should be mandatory that anyone who does want a divorce should go through marriage counseling for a couple months to try their best to work it out. Instead of being able to just give up. Kind of like the movie “What Happens In Vegas.”

11!> How vital/valuable do you believe your family is to your success?

My family is very vital. I want to succeed, but not leave them behind and I need their support. Without them I won’t succeed if I climb the ladder by myself.

12!> Do you believe that college or higher education necessary to be successful?

No! There are many people who are successful who didn’t even go to college. Success is what you make it and you only go as far as you push yourself and allow yourself to go.

13!> What is your definition of SUCCESS?

Success is doing the things in life you love and accomplishing your goals. Being passionate about your career and what you do and being happy doing it.

15!> Athletes receive multi million dollar contracts but we still have uneducated children and hungry people on the streets… How do YOU feel about this and what, if anything, can we do to change it??

I feel like people and society puts its money to the things it cares about and education and hunger is not important to most people. It’s a shame that children aren’t receiving the best education they can get and the sad thing is it will hurt us all in the end. But we as a society don’t have our priorities in the right place because we care more about entertainment than peoples wellbeing.

19!> How far do you feel we as Americans have gotten away from “Family Values” and is there any reality in a “White-picket Fence” dream??

Family Values have been flushed down the toilet a long time ago. We have no regard for family anymore. Families and homes are being torn apart and aren’t whole anymore. People have become so selfish and just don’t care about others anymore. And part of the blame is the divorce rate. There is a lack of respect for committed unions. We don’t value love. Therefore we stopped caring about family.
