Halloween Costume Ideas

With there being like 50,000 Halloween parties, who the heck wants to buy more than one outfit??? Here go some cool ideas that are relatively inexpensive (think Dollar Tree and the Thrift Store) to put together. Added bonus, they are FUNNY. Check them out!

• Wear a cute, short dress with high heels. Carry a silver briefcase with a number on the outside--and the $1,000,000 sign on the inside.

• Dress like Kanye West the night of the VMAs, and carry around a microphone and a bottle of Hennessy. NEWSFLASH lol Beyonce is pregnant?

Well US Weekly is repoting that world famous R&B/Pop Star/Actress Beyonce Knowles is with child! She is reported to be in her first trimester and she was taken by surprise... This isn't the first time there has been speculation about her and husband Jay-Z expecting. Just as recently as March rumors were millling about as to whether or not she was eating for two. It has yet to be confirmed by them at this point but you can.... Check more on the story HERE

If you've been on Facebook or watched a television lately, you've probably heard of the White Seasame Street writer that created a video for his adopted African daughter. Joey Mazzariono, head writer at Sesame Street, created the segment for the show for his adopted daughter Segi from Ethiopia. Segi, as many young black girls questioned why her hair wasn't long and blonde, like Barbie's. Mazzariono made the video in order to give her and other African (American) girls the reassurance that their hair is fine the way it is. :>)

About two weeks ago I posted Philly P and Nes Wordz compilation, The Suffocation vol I, and it's been nothing but a whirlwind for the two of them. Between having multiple performances (KOBO, and Scarlet and Grey Cafe) there has been MAD love shown to these guys and they wanted to express their appreciation and gratitude for it all.

The State of Our (un)Union @LaurenLuna

This Saturday during Gallery Hop at The Kiaca Gallery, a friend of mine Lauren Luna of  Lauren Luna LTD, is putting on her first solo exhibit in 10 years! Reflection. Inspiration. Motivation. 

The State of our (un)Union unveils the plight of Black America. Awakening the inner conscience of the next generation is vital in the process of progression and I commit to unraveling the spiral of lost souls. 

The glorification of excess, violence, hedonistic behavior has crippled the conscious of today’s youth leaving children, teenagers, and young adults captivated in a false sense of purpose. 

Popular music, namely Hip Hop reflects the harsh realities of our culture, and creates a convex mirror reflecting what reality is and what can be. The words play an operatic omniscient certainty, which embarks the question of choice. Do we choose to live to the standards blared out through the speakers of a passing car? Is it possible not to become digitized by exploitive videos of someone’s mother, sister, daughter, or aunt? 

The plight of Black America rests on an honest dialogue. Is Hip-Hop, a culture created out of the necessity of self-expression, now a mute catalyst to formulaic plague of the loss of honesty, self-respect, and self-identity? 

Using many different forms of media the image of these questions force the viewer to take part and see. From newspaper clippings, to scrawled words, to the painted image, the message of the state of our un-union is being revealed. The question is now, what will be done? More importantly; what will YOU do?
