Take a listen to some GOOD music from the Homie J Osceola! I just did an interview with him a couple of wks ago check it out... His music embodies positivity drawn out of what looked to be negativity in his life.
Summmmmmmeeerrrrrr Jammmmmmmmmmmmm!!!! What more can I say??? It was a very very great experience! But enough of what I had to say about it, check out what some of my fellow spectators and some of the artists had to say about their experiences!!
"I liked SummerJam b/c of the breaking, MC's, and atmosphere. Columbus needs this. It restores my faith in Columbus Hiphop again"
"KayJay says: I think Summer Jam 2009 was a classic. It was a great way for artists in Columbus to showcase their talent and prove that we are definitely a force to be reckoned with. I had a great time at the show, and can 't wait for SJ part 2!"
Kara "Kay Jay" Kentner- of Designs by Kay Jay
"Summer Jam 614 was a experience I wont forget. I was there to support my boi Skeptik to find in the end I have become a fan of many others. I have always been a huge fan of Ohio's unsigned artists. People been sleepin on Ohio's elite and it takes great minds to put together events like this for Elevator Music succeeded in bringing Columbus, Ohio's talented artists together under one roof, and showing America what they have been missing. I heard of some of the acts but never really had a chance to really hear their music or see them perform, now I see what I've been missing. It was a great turn out, no drama, and finally a place where I can hear real music and not the pop crap the media call Hip-Hop. There is and may always be the big discussion of "Where Is Hip-Hop Headed," and I'm glad to say that all the artists who graced the stage gave the Black Culture hope. We need these A&R's to open there eyes and see what we are seeing. Music with a message I'm so for. Anyone can dance and make a beat, but do you really have something to say. The event was well organized just wish everyone had more time to perform, I wanted to hear more. I definitely look forward to the next one. Big Ups to Elevator Music for organizing a great show. There is not enough a can say about everyone's performances. I missed a couple performances but I have been caught up musically thanks to the net. Can't wait to see everyone perform again, so keep me posted."
Destiny Chanel- of Infinite Prestige Ent and "Midwest Twitter Group"
"My experience at Summer Jam was good. The energy was amazing and the performances I did see were on point. You could feel the passion in each and every performer. And that made the experience entertaining. Glad I didn't miss out on attending Summer Jam!! Is it 2010 yet?"
"Summer Jam was a good show.. I think Rashad and the 3rd were great. i think Daniele did a phenomenal job, Kim Joyce rocked, etc. i think it was a great turnout/crowd, diverse and open to everyones' performance. ...i think it was a great time. I hope we can utilize the energy from it to create more. if we let the fire fizzle down before we talk to one another or make another effort to do a great show, we're stupid.. Summer Jam proved we can put on a great show in Columbus WITH columbus talent.. THAZ MY PIECE... PEACE!!!"
Apparently you had ME, the Dark and Lovely DIVA, in mind when you made this song. You could have at least had the courtesy to call me when you made this video. Forbidden Fruit
I know I'm not supposed to, but I want to Tempted, attracted, drawn to you Gravity working against me double time Hoping, wishing, praying, waitin on you to be mine I'm tired of all that though it's time to take action Formulate a grand scheme, make this thing happen I know you want it too, I can see it in your walk I know you need it too, I can hear it when you talk Gathering up the courage to make my approach Rejection, yes, remains in the back of my thoughts I make my move and all that dissapears I feel your energy, I'm glad to be here I catch your gaze aimed directly at my figure I pretend not to see, I wanna let it linger Happy Feelings in the air amongst us Adrenaline rush suddenly as our hands touch Endorphins coursing through my veins singing sweet melodies However in mere seconds I crash back 2 reality Come back to my senses before I'm too far gone After our exchange, I will forever long Yearn for another chance to hear you say my name And to eat your forbidden fruit, I'll never forget the taste....

HOLA! This is ya girl BeShayBE comin @ youwith another interview! This time it's with a very special subject... J Osceola! :>) This dude has incredible hustle, determination and a humble spirit to go along with it! Watch out for him, he's gonna blow soon, just get ready for the explosion!!!! Peep the interview bellloooowww :>p
OnE: State ur name gangsta, and ur bizzness...
They call me J. Osceola aka J dot O... And my bizzness is making good music that people can relate to and that will touch ur soul... Hip Hop to be more specific... (Though I don't like to be boxed in any one specific category).
TwO: So what different roles do you take on in the music making process?
Well right now I mainly am just the artist... Which entails writing all the lyrics... From the verses to the hooks... That includes any singing hooks (as I write for other genres r&b, pop, and rock). I also arrange all the songs and song topics... I also produce a lil bit... But right now for these current projects I'm falling back on the production to focus on being just the "artist"...
ThReE: Ok so you wear many many hats then! Seeing as how you are currently focusing on being an "artist", what types messages do you choose to convey in your music?
Yeah I wear many hats... Not only on the artistic side... But also on the business side... But that's a whole other conversation... LoL... My manager Roshawn Sanders "Ro" handles a lot of the business too though... Shout out to Ro! LoL.. But as far as being an artist is concerned, I'm very particular in the message I portray in my music. I used to be into the streets and I was walking down the wrong path w/the wrong people, but luckily God brought me through it and blessed me enough to be wise & learn from it..
So now in my music I don't wanna glorify the same things that I learned from, u know? And especially w/the way the music industry and the world is, the youth or just people in general don't really have a lot to look up to in a positive sense.. Its always "dope boy this", "money cash hoes that".. "Gangsta this".. Etc.. Which I ain't dissin anybody because to each his own, but when it becomes a fad and it ain’t real, is when it’s a problem.. So really MY music is what I believe and stand for.. My music is ME in every sense of the word..
FoUr: I can definitely see that from listening to your music, I noticed that you don't even curse in your music that's a real good look.
Yeah that's true.. I mean personally I just choose not to curse.. Because that's not part of my life, and my music’s just an extension of my life.. So it goes hand and hand I guess.. Plus I want everyone to be able to listen to my music.. From elementary school kids, to da homies on the block pushin, to your grandmother! LoL.. I don't wanna limit my audience at all..
I think a lot of artists think they can't make hot music or be considered relevant unless they follow what everyone else in the industry is doing.. Like they can't be themselves or something.. But that's what music is for.. Self expression.. So therefore that's why there's a lot music that isn't genuine anymore I think.. But like I said earlier, to each his own cuz I listen to music with all types of messages, cursing or no cursing..whether it be Jay-Z to Andre3000 to Kanye to Jeezy.. Good music is good music..
FiVe: Tell me some more about ur background because your name has a significant meaning. Why J Osceola?
Well.. My name does have significant meaning.. Growing up in Columbus, I lived in a lot of different places.. Mainly on the north side.. From Cleveland ave to Somerset, to forest park.. but where it all started was off of Hudson and Osceola Ave.. That was where I first fell in love w/hip hop and 1st started really really developing my own thoughts & views of the world.. It was also where I've been thru the most drama, from running w/the wrong crew, to "pushin", to getting shot at and stabbed, etc.. The reason all that was significant though, is because I learned from it and it made me into the person I am 2day.. So I have to show respect to the placed that "raised me".. Columbus & Osceola Ave..
SiX: Wow! You definitely have to remember where you came from. That's important to you making it to where your destiny lies. I also feel RESPECT is something that is majorly important, although I feel it's becoming lost in today’s society. Who do you respect, and who did you look up to along the way?
Yes ma'am! That's very important.. And even more important than remembering it, is learning from it, and respect it.. But coming up, I looked up to and was inspired by a lot of people.. I say when I first started rapping, some of my major influences were Wu-Tang Clan, Jay-Z, Nas, Outkast, and BIG and Pac.. Also more recently, cats like Kanye, Lupe, and Andre3000.. Other than that, locally, I grew up as a shorty listening to The 3rd and Ruhl Ave.. The whole Elevator Music camp.. Their music to this day is some of my favorite of all time! Shout out to Elevator Music and the 3rd! Like the 1st lady of Elevator Music always says "Elevator Music is the best!".. LoL..
I also looked up to another local artist Wallabe from The Reallest Records.. He is a natural hustla so he grinds hard for the music! I respect that tremendously! But real talk, other than that, the main influence of music is LIFE and ALL its experiences! Life is like the author of my music, and I'm just like the translator from my perspective.. lol
But as far as respect in society goes.. That a whooooole other topic! Society has lost respect, morals, honor, and a whole lot of other stuff! What society views as "acceptable" has become farrrr tooo acceptable! But like I said that's a whooole other interview! LoL
SeVeN: Lol yes it is another interview! I agree wholeheartedly... Speaking of Elevator music and other artists, how are you feeling about this C.O. Unity (my name for it) movement? (Artists, DJ's, promoters, sponsors, etc)
I feel like the whole C.O. Unity is a beautiful thing!! But to be real, the unity that is going on between everyone, has recently JUST started happening within the last year or so I would say.. If that.. LoL.. I mean before hand Columbus was really "clicked" off in the music community.. I mean it still is somewhat, but like I said within the last year, its changed. It used to be a lot of cats making music acting like they didn't wanna support anyone doing the same craft as them.. and a lot of cats won't wanna hear this, but a lot of cats making music were really actually hating on other artists.. LoL..
Now, its coming together and people are working together instead of against each other.. Basically cross promoting and sharing each others audiences & fan bases.. Which is beautiful because I feel like that's the one thing that separates Columbus from other major music cities is the unity.. I mean Columbus has MAD talent! (There's also A LOT of wack music.. But that's another interview too.. LoL)..I mean look how St. Louis came together.. And Houston.. And Miami.. Etc..
I feel like the unity within the C.O. is a BIG step and will put us on the map very soon in the music industry.. I think the reason behind a lot of the reason behind the unity now are networks like Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, etc, and all the online blogs.. Communication is key and these networks allow us to link very very easily..
EiGhT: (BTW C.O. Unity is being (tm) as we speak...)I believe in the movement, for real. Like Jay-Z said "I put my ni**** on, my ni**** put they ni**** on, now we somewhere foreign sippin on sumthin" haha. Now what you said at the end brings me to another point all 2gether. Social networking is very important to an artists success these days. The Internet and blogs are making getting a deal and selling "records" less of a necessity. More and more artists are making, producing and distributing they're own music. How do you feel about getting a deal and do you think it's worth it?
The social networks... I think they are great tools to promote artists music, get their name out their, and network with the right people... So I definitely think it’s a great thing for those people / artists who take advantage of it. But on the other hand, it can be a disadvantage because once it comes down to getting a deal or selling records, it hurts the artist at times b/c it seems as if record labels don't want to put as good of a deal on the table unless the artist already has a major online following.. And also when it comes to record sales, obviously if people are able to get ur music online w/o having to buy a physical record, that will (in turn) decrease record sales... So it’s good if ur properly taking advantage of it! Its new era of technology that artist must keep up with!
NiNe: I definitely agree with the fact that social networking has its ups and downs especially for a music artist. So given these potential deterrents, what keeps you going? Why music?
TeN: Last question... At the end of the day what is it that you want your fans 2 know about you?
At the end of the day, I want my fans to be able to relate to my music, my perspective, and my story... I want my music to provide a fresh perspective on what's "cool", what's considered "hot" and inspire people to better themselves... I want my fans and just people that hear my music in general, to understand that u can be yourself and you don't have to glorify negativity to be considered "cool" or have dope music... I guess at the end of the day, I really want my fans to know that my music is a direct reflection of myself, my life, my experiences, things I've seen, and my perspective.. So I want my fans to know... Me...
BONUS: Do you have anything coming up in the near future that we need to look out for?

HOLA! I'm back at y'all with another interview! I'm getting pretty good at this!! I am constantly on a search for talent. When I see something I like in a person (Drive, ambition, talent, etc) I reach out and grab it. Here is an example of one such person below. This dude is HI-larious for real, almost as much of a clown as me! READ! COMMENT!Expect many many more!!!!!
OnE: Alright state ur name gangster and what do you do? How did u decide on that name, what is it's meaning?
I am Skeptik and iRip everything. i also go by Skeptor when im in decepticon form. To be honest, I really don't know where the name came from. I can't recall the exact moment when i became Skeptik, let's just say it came to me in a dream. What I DO know, is what it means to me. Alotta people are rapping nowadays and they claim to be the best at what they do. I DONT BELIEVE YOU! My name is Skeptik becaues I am the most skeptical person you could ever encounter.
tWo: And Skeptor where did that come from?
One thing that people may not know about me is that I clown, all the time. I love to laugh and i laugh at any and everything. My cousin Speezy (who produced "Goose" on my Noid3ntity mixtape) is always on some other shit, makin up words or whylin out. He started callin me Skeptor and that evolved into King Skeptor which was my producer alias for a while until i stopped making beats. If I was a transformer I feel like I would be a decepticon, and King Skeptor is an epic ass name, wouldn't you agree?
ThReE: Yea I do that's dop3 as hell. You mentioned that you like to clown, how does ur personality fit into ur rhymes?
In daily life I'm usually clownin but when it comes to my music, there's no room for games. I take my music extremely serious, and usually my music portrays that. I've never been diagnosed, but I think I might be bi-polar so I can be a really fun person but i can also be real introverted and solemn at times. More often then not, I use music as a release, therapy if you will. There have been a lot of situations where i had no one to talk to about a situation and i just pick up the pen and vent. I think that is when i make my best music. I do make fun songs every now and then like the I love college remix i did called "I'ma Pothead". However, I pride myself in my intelligence and i would like to think that shines through my rhymes as well.
FoUr: Ok so you use ur rhymes as a cathartic release to get out your feelings. A lot of artists are missing the whole storytelling element in their music nowadays, in my opinion. What kind of rhymes do you bring to the table?
Honestly, I can do it all. I'd like to believe that i showcase that with this youtube campaign i've launched (Youtube.com/DontBeASkeptik). You'll find everything ranging from a remix to "Blame it" to a ferocious ass acapella freeverse. I've been remixing everybody's songs as well as dropping freestyle verses and a 32 bar video verse everyweek. Just this last week i did a 64 bar story verse over my homie TrackBangas' (Trackbangas.com) beat. I try my best to make marketable music while maintaining my lyrical integrity. So even if im doin a song for or about the ladies, I'm still gonna rip it. That's really the driving factor behind my whole Dont Be A Skeptik movement, I really want the people to believe me when I say that iRip Everything.
FiVe: I can tell u have a lot passion for rhyming. What made u decide to start ur YouTube campaign and how often do you post songs?
I've been doing music for a while now, I've been recording out the basement since 2000, and I'm real familiar with the internet. I bought a flip cam when i had no business buying it, so i figured i need to put it to good use. It started when I posted on facebook sayin "Drake is nice, but i think im nicer" and alotta people sent me when i said that, so i felt the need to prove myself and i kicked a long ass verse over the Say you will beat and put it on youtube. I got a good response from it so I decided to make it a weekly thing. Youtube has intrigued me ever since souljah boy got signed off it. seemed like a good way to promote and gain exposure. So every week I remix a popular industry song for "Who's Better Wednesday", I do a 32 bar acapella video verse for "32 Thursdays", and every other sunday I do a 64 bar freeverse for "64 Sundays". I would say i post pretty regularly.
SiX: So I see that you use the internet as a marketing tool, how important do you think it is to participate in social networking or sites like YouTube?
I think its extremely important because its not as easy to pump your music in the streets anymore. Especially in the city of columbus with our radio station in the state that it is, they dont play any local artists. For the past 3 years I've been in my own world making music, no networking at all. I joined twitter a couple months ago and I have increased my network exponentially. (Shouts to the whole Elevator camp, Young Wise, Byonest, and everybody else who been showin love since I "showed up on the scene") In fact, I met Rashad through twitter and linked up wit him at a 3rd show and now i got a slot at summer jam, which im definitely excited about (the lineup is CRAZY). Oh yeah, and if your not hip, get hip. http://www.Twitter.com/DontBeASkeptik <-------0 FOLLOW!
SeVeN: I hear you on that, networking is very important to your success. You gotta get your name out there and in people's ear! Next question. In this time of record low industry record sales, what drives u to continue making music? Are u looking for a deal?
Lord knows I would love to get paid for what I do, but that's not what im in it for right now. If the right deal was presented to me, I'd definitely sign, Im broke out here lol. Like i said before, music is my release, so even if i never make a dime off of it, I will continue to write and make music for myself if anything. It's extremely frustrating with the state of Hip-Hop right now because its pretty obvious that I'm not what they are looking for right now. I don't dance and I REFUSE to autotune, you will also NEVER catch me making a song that comes with a dance. Labels nowadays are so short sighted, they're willing to sign a rapper to a one song deal instead of an album, so a multiple album deal is out of the question. They dont care to grow an artist that can make them money over an extended period of time, they would rather max out profit today. It's really not a good look for the industry.
EiGhT: I agree whole heartedly, we live in a microwave society. Everybody wants instantaneous success and riches. At the end of the day, what do you want to say you did with your music? As far as impact...
I would really like to say that I influenced someone who needed an escape to pick up the pen and put their thoughts on the notepad instead of taking a more destructive route to release that bad energy. I really dont know where I would be without music.I would LOVE to be known as the artist who brought back Hip-Hop from the brink of death, and I hope to one day be reckognized for my lyrical ability and versatility. Besides that, what rapper do you know that doesn't want to be remembered as the greatest? I know I do.
niNe: Question what influences you in the music making process?
Alot of weed. LOL na, I really don't have an answer for that question. When Im REALLY in my zone, it's more of a blackout kinda thing where the track can write itself. I don't wanna sound arrogant or anything but i usually dont put too much effort into it if im in my groove. The only way i can relate it to you is that it's like Isaac Mendez (Heroes) when he's painting. Kind of a let go and let GOD type of deal. I dont really listen to a lot of rap for specifically that reason, i'd rather not be influenced. Aside from that, sometimes I'll watch a movie and get inspired to write something, or I'll hear a crazy ass beat and have a "magic moment." It's really spontaneous with me, sometimes the mood just strikes.
TeN:I feel you on that inspiration comes from many many places... Last question, what are some of ur favorite artists, OLD and NEW...
Back when I first got into hip-hop and music in general, i used to listen to No Limit ALOT (Don't judge me). My favorite era in hip-hop was the Roc-a-fella era when Beanie Sigel, Hov, Freeway, and the Young Gunz was doin it. So much great music was made around that time. I also used to listen to the Ruff Ryders alot, DMX first album was a CLASSIC. Lately, I really haven't been inspired by rap (can't call it hip-hop anymore). Call me a hater but 90% of these mufuggas on the scene wit deals are TRASH. Nowadays I'm into more rock and alternative music like Pink Floyd, Coheed and Cambria, The Beatles, Citizen Cope. I am a music lover first. Rapper second.
Soo on Monday, I went to the Hennessey Black Party, here in Columbus OH @ Club Fire. It was pretty awesome! The party and drinks were Free.99! I enjoyed myself wit the homie J Osceola and My choc-wonder super twin, Bianca Bonnett. Check out some of the pics I took! More pics 2 come! Sent on the Now Network from my Sprint® BlackBerry
What I want is not what's best for me... Because what I want I CONVINCE myself and make it a need Meaning I trick myself into believing I can't go without it That by not having it in my life I'm goin thru a drought When in actuality its just preparation time This self imposed drought has come right in time I had to scrape my plate, wipe my hands clean, step back from the table Stop everything I was doing before I made a mistake Re-evaluate my steps, plan out which 1's to take We're all dealt a hand, holdin back my cards I chose to use my brain, my God-given smarts Truth be told its not really something I feel blue about Before this I was bluer than someone that drowned In the abyss of false-pretenses and non-exsistent love Body fufilled, emotion another story That all disenagrated in a blaze of glory At the hands of the one I adored It ended when I realized I love me more These things I turn over in my mind when I'm alone Midnight and the thereafter in my bed @ home Please know I'm not bitter I just know what's best Changed my mind, thinkin with the thing in my chest I love the thrill of the chase but I gotta do me Mind over matter, the C-word CELIBACY...

Its crazy how I feel music in my soul Inside my head all day I'm never alone... Rewind Fast Forward inside my mind Even when I sleep, I hear it all the time... Play Pause Stop make my body rock Take it back again, take it to the top... I amore the melody, the way the song flows Pick up the beat then let it drop slow...
