BE AWARE! World AIDS day 12/01/09

I encourage EVERY one of my friends and family to go get tested and know your status...
If you THINK you are at risk, go get tested. If you are going to engage in sexual activity, be safe and use protection for EVERYthing, EVERYthing? EVERYthing!! Or better yet, be abstinent! Abstinence is a state of mind, not just a state of being... Check some of these preventative measures....
  • Avoid injected (intravenous) drugs. If you use injected drugs, avoid sharing needles or syringes. Always use new needles. (Boiling or cleaning them with alcohol does not guarantee that they're sterile and safe.)
  • Avoid oral, vaginal, or anal contact with semen from HIV-infected people.
  • Avoid unprotected anal intercourse, since it causes small tears in the rectal tissues, through which HIV in an infected partner's semen may enter directly into the other partner's blood.
  • If you have sex with people who use injected drugs, always use protection.
  • If you have sex with many people or with people who have multiple partners, always use protection.
  • People with AIDS or who have had positive HIV antibody tests can pass the disease on to others. They should not donate blood, plasma, body organs, or sperm. They should not exchange genital fluids during sexual activity.
  • Safer sex behaviors may reduce the risk of getting the infection. There is still a slight risk of getting the infection even if you practice "safe sex" with the use of condoms. Abstinence is the only sure way to prevent sexual transmission of the virus.
  • Use protection when having sexual contact with people you know or suspect of being infected with HIV. Even better, use protection for ALL sexual contact.
Take this survey to assess your risk...

Songs That Make Me: Wale feat Marsha Ambrosious "Diary"

Photobucket

"Queen,/ You deserve the title/ But she rejects what i give/ While she nurse the wounds by them/ Tried them, didn't work/ Got impossible standards,/ Nothin' I do's gonna work/ Diary of a black girl"
@Wale

This track is CLASSIC... in my humble opinion...
Everything from the arrangement and the lyrics and Marsha's BEAUTIFUL, ANGELIC voice makes this track a standout to me...
NOT to mention the song gets to me so TOUGH!

It gives you a peek into the goings on inside of MY diary... I can so relate to this song. I think that every woman keeps a diary, literal or figurative. Every man that we allow into our lives writes something on the tablet of our heart. Good or bad, there is a record being kept of what transpires in the relationship. I myself can say that my "Diary" is filled with doubt, fear and very little trust in the opposite sex. I don't want it to be that way, but when that's all you know it's hard to go AROUND that.

It's even harder for the man that is trying to prove otherwise. I'm an optimistic person, but fear prohibits me from letting go and allowing someone new to get close to me... Insecurity, is a self-imposed prison, I choose to let my mind create falsities and conspire about how your intentions are impure... And I KNOW that it's partially my fault because I settle and repeat some mistakes, but DAMN it seems never-ending... In order for change to occur one must do something DIFFERENT for a change... Seems like I should do that huh??

If I told you I wanted to talk to you, you know
you'd think I'm tryin' to holler at you
And maybe I am, but you wouldn't hear me out anyways would you?

Rather lose love than to move on never knowin' what it feels like
Short days, long nights by the phone, no call
Need a clear mind cuz I been blind got me goin down that road
Heart made of stone
Far away from home,
Black woman c-c-cold
Every problem that you ever had with another man, i gotta face
Started off on thin ice i'm still here but i can't skate
Slow sink, can't breathe
No remorse, don't think
Listen to your friend,
Get another man for a minute then repeat
Queen,
You deserve the title
But she rejects what i give
While she nurse the wounds by them
Tried them, didn't work
Got impossible standards,
Nothin' I do's gonna work
Diary of a black girl

[Chorus:]
I wonder why I sit and cry, wish I could shed all these tears
I'm down and out, I'll keep on movin' and tryin' to get out
I don't know how to move on, where I went wrong
Wish I could live with no fears
So down and out, I'll keep it movin' and try to get out, somehow

Black girl

Raise by a momma who, hates the baby father, so
She don't have a problem with, sayin' "fuck a nigga" quick
I'm just tryin' to be the one who never run, but you run away from me
Your girlfriend's men cheat, why not me the same thing
She can't see in me, what I see in her
This pain she inherit, can't be reversed
I can even stay livin' in the shade above the motherfuckers that played ya
The irony in that is I ain't even that but you put it in those pages
Wife, you deserve the label,
But you been hurt before,
So you sore, and don't feel you're able
Tried them, didn't work
Got impossible standards,
Nothing that i ever do'll work
Diary of a black girl

[Repeat Chorus:] (2x)

See all I ever want to do is be relevant just tell me that I ever meant anything or that you could ever see me and you on another light but its like the dark winter doors darkest nights by the wrong men mostly all of them have made you some what incapable of a first impression what I do is channel my aggression with no cable or antenna just intentions to impress you; incapable, hoping that the material possessions can materialize to a better you; cars, nothing I drive can drive better this frame of mind with such an ugly picture in the end; money, nothing I buy can buy me more time for your ears to say your heart to listen to it; diamonds, a girls best friend is what they say but believe me with the right allegiance ya, you gonna shine anyways and every day that goes by is a couple more lines in her diary the day before is better then the present so anyone presented in her presence endures her life; sentences, no key for release no reason to be around her minds in the clouds she writes it all down in her diary

AGL presents: Indie artist feature: D. Larue "End of Regulation"

AGL (A Good Look) presents: Indie artist feature: D. Larue "End of Regulation"

end: The time at which something is concluded.

reg·u·la·tion: A principle, rule, or law designed to control or govern conduct.

NOV 19th is here! D Larue's "End Of Regulation" is HERE!!!

I can't wait to listen to this! I'm really excited by the direction that Ohio Indie hip-hop is taking, ESPECIALLY to see a woman putting it down just as good as or BETTER than a man... I promise you she could beat you, your mama's mama, or yo mama's pappy in a battle....D. Larue's style is Raw, edgy, fresh, and original. And I hope you like her music as much as I do!

End of Regulation is 17 original tracks filled with enough lyricism and classic production to make any hip hop head have a cardiac. Dominique Larue does nothing but exude her passion for music in each song with her raw delivery and cunning storytelling. She is on a mission to let the world know that female emcees still exist and are alive and well. With production from Focus, Rashid Hadee, D/Will, T.Dragonette, Antman Wonder and more, along with features from the likes of Wordsmith, Prefyx, Junclassic, Cyrano Sinatra and Savant.

If you feel like hip hop has been lacking a woman's touch then this tape will bring all hope back in a special way. Dominique showcases her ability to rock any given track with her trademark raw elegance. End of Regulation is meant to show the world how she is putting in overtime to end mediocrity in music, this most definitely raises the bar. Ms. Larue's new album "From Ohio With Love" is available on iTunes/Amazon right now. Also lookout for Dub MD and !llmind as they return with Volume 4 of the "Blaps, Rhymes & Life" compilation series this December.
