This video is from Columbus Ohio's very own Fly Union featuring G.O.O.D.(Getting out our dreams) Music artist Big Sean. It was shot in Cleveland, Ohio by Palestra Creative (the same folks the did The 3rd's Escalade video) the weekend of the Ohio Hip Hop Awards. It's funny to see how it turned out because me and the JWORK fam we're actually on Coventry when they were shooting some of the scenes. I think it turned out AWESOME, what do you think???

Music Mondays: I love SOUL music...

Todaayyyyy I just feel like posting some classic EPIC ish from my personal favorite era in music, the SOUL era, the 1970's! There are definitely some newer musicians that are inspired by the original soul era, but I wanna go baaacccck... Soul music to me is music that is inspired fully by fusing the energy, the spirit, the feeling into something as simple as telling me to "Get up offa that thing"... Music that can take you down low and cause you to relate to an emotion you've never experienced... Music that can bring you back up and make you stand up on the inside without you placing a foot on the ground... An expression of what often cannot be put into words, things ranging from sexuality/love/ and political uprising, but the chords played upon the piano, the notes plucked from the bass guitar, the squeal emitted from the brass horn or that wail pushed from the inner most part of the body, some how says it all... Soul music is my favorite music...

I encourage EVERY one of my friends and family to go get tested and know your status...
If you THINK you are at risk, go get tested. If you are going to engage in sexual activity, be safe and use protection for EVERYthing, EVERYthing? EVERYthing!! Or better yet, be abstinent! Abstinence is a state of mind, not just a state of being... Check some of these preventative measures....

• Avoid injected (intravenous) drugs. If you use injected drugs, avoid sharing needles or syringes. Always use new needles. (Boiling or cleaning them with alcohol does not guarantee that they're sterile and safe.)
• Avoid oral, vaginal, or anal contact with semen from HIV-infected people.
• Avoid unprotected anal intercourse, since it causes small tears in the rectal tissues, through which HIV in an infected partner's semen may enter directly into the other partner's blood.
• If you have sex with people who use injected drugs, always use protection.
• If you have sex with many people or with people who have multiple partners, always use protection.
• People with AIDS or who have had positive HIV antibody tests can pass the disease on to others. They should not donate blood, plasma, body organs, or sperm. They should not exchange genital fluids during sexual activity.
• Safer sex behaviors may reduce the risk of getting the infection. There is still a slight risk of getting the infection even if you practice "safe sex" with the use of condoms. Abstinence is the only sure way to prevent sexual transmission of the virus.
• Use protection when having sexual contact with people you know or suspect of being infected with HIV. Even better, use protection for ALL sexual contact.

This track is CLASSIC... in my humble opinion...
Everything from the arrangement and the lyrics and Marsha's BEAUTIFUL, ANGELIC voice makes this track a standout to me...
NOT to mention the song gets to me so TOUGH!

It gives you a peek into the goings on inside of MY diary... I can so relate to this song. I think that every woman keeps a diary, literal or figurative. Every man that we allow into our lives writes something on the tablet of our heart. Good or bad, there is a record being kept of what transpires in the relationship. I myself can say that my "Diary" is filled with doubt, fear and very little trust in the opposite sex. I don't want it to be that way, but when that's all you know it's hard to go AROUND that.

It's even harder for the man that is trying to prove otherwise. I'm an optimistic person, but fear prohibits me from letting go and allowing someone new to get close to me... Insecurity, is a self-imposed prison, I choose to let my mind create falsities and conspire about how your intentions are impure... We still plan on recording this and releasing it online. The first installment of the Klatch will be a time for stimulating conversation lead by our all male panel of volunteers! So invite your friends, family and colleagues for a great time of conversation and real talk in our community!

This week is a very exciting one for the city of Columbus!!! College Football Season has begun and the Buckeyes kicked it off with a nice WIN over the Navy this past Saturday!! This weekend is the HUGE game!!! Ohio State Buckeyes vs. USC Trojans!!! The city is anticipating a major showdown followed by a big victory and many many afterparties!!!! We must show love and support to our OSU Buckeye Football players!!! Ok since this has something to do with music and I'm always finding new ish, just in case u are;nt hip here are two sites that will help you out in your pursuit of music knowledge AND free downloads.... :>)

1. Who Sampled: http://www.whosampled.com/

Basically if you're a music listener who always has the question, "WHERE have I heard this before?" then this site is for you. Who Sampled not only gives you the information as to what song sampled what, it also gives you a sound clip to hear the influence as well as the song that includes the sample! I found this in the midst of my search to find out what song Mc Lyte sampled for "Poor Georgie" ("Georgie Porgie" Toto, AND "Wanna Be Where You Are" Michael Jackson)

2. Fetch MP3: http://www.fetchmp3.com/

I found this googling how to rip audio from YouTube videos about 6mths ago. With this site, you can rip the audio into an MP3 file from ANYthing that has been posted on youtube. So that audio from House Party 2 that you want to include in your podcast? It's on Fetch MP3. That song that came out yesterday that all the links are broken to? You can probably find it on Fetch MP3. I've downloaded COUNTLESS songs from this site and the major PERK, you don't have to download MORE software to your PC it's all done through the browser :>)

It was only a matter of time. Last week a number of tracks from Jay-Z’s upcoming The Blueprint 3 leaked online, including his collaboration with Rookie of the Year Drake on “Off That.” Now, Hov has to deal with his entire album being on the Web: The Blueprint 3 popped up on blogs this morning around the time Jay-Z appeared at a press conference announcing his 9/11 tribute concert.

“I may be the most bootlegged artist in history,” he told MTV News shortly after his album leaked. “It’s a preview. I’m excited for people to hear the album. I’m very proud of the work I’ve done, so enjoy it.”

Jay kept it cool despite his material leaking out 10 days before the official release day. The iconic MC, though, had reason to relax: He has his own indicator to let him know whether reactions to his music are good or bad.

“My pager is actually ringing right now, so people are probably calling me and telling me they pretty much like it,” he explained. “I can tell by the way my pager rings if a song is good or not. It’s really going crazy right now.”

The "Supplied 4 Success" School Supply Drive and giveaway is going to be held on Sunday Aug 23rd from 12-3pm at Barnett Recreation Center, Columbus OH. The drive is supply 300 children grades K-8 with some of the supplies necessary to make it through the school year. I and both Team Osceola and The JWORK limited street team will be there volunteering our time giving away school supplies to the children.  "Supplied 4 Success" is a not-for-profit school supply drive and giveaway created to benefit school-aged children of need that are primarily located in the Franklin County area. Organized and presented by ColumbusUrbanLife.com, Repertoire PR & Marketing Collective, and The Promise Foundation, "Supplied 4 Success" will take 100% of the monetary and supply donations received from local business owners, organizations, and individuals in order to distribute bookbags filled with the basic essentials that the children will need to begin a successful school-year.
 
The "Supplied 4 Success" school supply giveaway will take place during the weekend of August 22 at a designated location in the community that is easily accessible by COTA, has ample FREE parking, and is also in close walking proximity to communities that are the most in need of assistance. In addition to handing out school supplies, we will have vendors on hand supplying snacks and beverages, a live dj providing age-appropriate music, volunteers to help keep the event organized, and local celebrities, athletes, and community leaders in attendance to shake hands, take photos and speak with the kids to get them motivated for the up-coming school year.
 
The organizers of "Supplied 4 Success" recognized that there is a great need in the community for the children to have the basic essentials needed to succeed in the classroom starting Day One of the 2009-2010 school year. With the economy still suffering, parents and teachers are stretching their resources to the max just to provide children with the educational and life necessities they need to compete with those students and schools that receive more funding.

This is for YOU all my fellow Jay-Z fans/stans and also the H8rs, the rumored BP3 tracklist was released 2day! I'm sure that these aren't ALL of the tracks. Knowing Jay there are BOUND to be surprises... Check out the list and below that, Jay-Z's explanation for his album cover....

“These things are like the forgotten pieces in hip-hop, it’s still about music,” Jay-Z said of the cornucopia of instruments and equipment, from saxophones to tape decks to turntables to phonographs. “It’s not about radio and it’s not about making gimmicks and its not about anything, it’s still about making music. So those things are out in the corner.” Jay’s visual aesthetic is supported by BP3’s first single “D.O.A.,” which called for the end of one of those “gimmicks,” Auto-Tune.
 
As for those three red stripes running horizontally across the cover, Jigga calls them the “original three” and discusses how that’s way the number appeared on cave drawings before someone came along and connected the lines to form the “3″ we all know now, but it’s just a convoluted answer for the fact that this is the third Blueprint and that U2 made emblazoning latitudinal lines on an album cover in vogue...."

ANDDDD check out this info about his new mixtape entitled "Feel Good Music" Hittin the innanets SOON!


"After months of HARD WORK (but I make it seem easy) the "Feel Good Music" Mixtape is completed. Yesterday I finished the last two songs, which leaves this mixtape at a total of 9 songs, also including a few skits and interviews! The tracklisting will be coming soon along with interviews and hopefully videos. On this mixtape I decided to step away from being SOOOO SERIOUS and just decided to have fun and that I most certainly did. I only worked with 2 producers on this project because they felt the music and where I was trying to take this mixtape. Many would like to claim this as "dance" music or "club" music but being from Mississippi and growing up around this type of music, it is what comes easy to me. This should be a very nice fall semester, for the schools, students, party people who ROCK with this music and know how to party!"
